The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy and the Chertoff Group encourage research and progressive thought into the fields of culture, globalization and international relations. In our globalized world it is vital that there is continued analysis and fresh thought into the fields of culture and international relations, and the way the two interact with one another. We therefore want to provide the opportunity for discussion of these topics, and the issues that are most important to both scholars and students today.

The 2012 International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy is designed to offer cutting-edge solutions to many of the challenges we face in today’s interdependent world in the context of national security and global risks by applying smart power strategies, and cultural diplomacy initiatives.

Upon conclusion of the conference the ICD and the Chertoff Group will publish a book on the topic of the conference:

„Cultural Diplomacy, National Security and Global Risks: The Use of CD to Bridge the Gap between Civil Society and the Public & Private Sectors in an Age of Digital Diplomacy“

For this book, we are welcoming paper submissions directly related to the subject. The papers can cover any topic within this field, according to your own particular academic and professional interests.

The paper proposal (to be no longer than 2 A4 pages) should be submitted to the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, no later than the 20th of June 2012. Please include your CV and full contact information together with your submission.
