Prof. Dr. Ludger Volmer

Former State Minister in the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs 

Ludger Volmer was one of the founding members of the Green Party, which supported anti-militarism and had its roots inter alia in the Peace Movement. Dr. Volmer was party president from 1991-1994.

From 1994-2005 Dr. Volmer was a member of the  Parliamentary committees of foreign affairs, economic cooperation and development, finance, United Nations; he was also a member of the Parliamentary assemblies of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Council of Europe and Inter-parliamentary Union Deputy Chairman of German-American and German-Russian parliamentary groups.

Since the summer of 2006, Dr. Volmer lectures at the Otto-Suhr-Institut  and at the Free University of Berlin, where he teaches in the Department of International Relations Foreign and Security Policy. In addition, Dr. Volmer is a social and political scientific advisor on the board of the "German Institute for Small and Medium Enterprises".
