Former Minister of Culture of the Republic of Latvia; Former Director, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra

Biography

Mr. Dālderis began making the transition to politics in 2006 following a distinguished classical music career in Latvia and internationally. He became a member theNational Board of Culture, as well as joining the Council of the State Culture Capital Foundation. In 2009 Mr. Dālderis was appointed Minister of Culture for the Republic of Latvia and is a member of the ICD Advisory Board.

Mr Dālderis began his musical education at the Jāzeps Mediņš Secondary School of Music.  A graduate of the esteemed Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, Mr. Dālderis joined the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in 1999 as a clarinetist. In 2005 he became the institution's director, a position he held for four years.

He has also worked closely with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Opera Orchestra, the Nordic Symphony Orchestra and others. Since 2005 he has been a Lecturer at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
