Biography

Pr. Mohamed Abdel Gawad Omran was appointed as EGX new chairman in September 2011 by Egyptian former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf. Before becoming chairman, Mohamed Omran was the Vice Chairman for Ooperation of the Insurance Holding Company for one year and a Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Exchnage from 2006 to 2010. He was as economist at both the Arab Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi and the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. He was also an advisor to the minister of investment and an acting executive director of the Egyptian Institute of Directors.

Mohamed Omran authored and co-authored approximately 40 papers. His work appeared in international economics and finance journals such as: Journal of Comparative Economics, Emerging Market Review and Global Finance Journal.

Pr. Mohamed Omran has a Master from Cairo University and Ph.D. in finance from the University of Plymouth, UK.
