Biography
Prof. Dr. Sjaak Koenis is currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Professor of Social Philosophy, focusing specifically on the relationship between politics and culture, in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University in The Netherlands. In addition, he is serving as Editor of Philosophy & Practice, Secretary of the Department of Philosophy, and Education Director of the Master of Arts and Social Sciences, as well as member of the Graduate School of Science, Technology, and Modern Culture (WTMC).Dr. Koenis has many important publications to his name, including his own thesis Between Margin and Profession, Frankfurt and Chicago: Two Views on the Practical Role of Sociologists (2001), The Desire for Community: About Morality and Politics in the Netherlands after the Compartmentalization” (2007), and The Desire for Culture, The Netherlands, and the End of Religion in Modern Politics (2008).
