Biography

Ranko Vilović (born in Zagreb on March 29th 1957) is a Croatian lawyer and diplomat. He studied law at the University of Zagreb in 1975, graduating in 1980. He earned a postgraduate degree in 1987 in international law and international relations.

Vilović began his diplomatic service at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 as Head of the Department of Consular Affairs. He then advanced to various overseas posts such as Bern, Zurich and Vienna. From 2009 to 2013, Vilović became a Permanent Representative of the Republic of Croatia to the United Nations in New York.

Ranko Vilović’s latest post has seen him become the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Berlin in September 2013.
