Biography

The Hon. Mohamed Orabi is an Egyptian diplomat and former Foreign Minister of Egypt.

Mr. Orabi joined the Egyptian Foreign Service in 1976, having formerly served in the army. Throughout his career, Mr. Orabi has held a variety of important posts. He served as Deputy Ambassador at the Egyptian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel from 1994 to 1998 and was Chief of the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister in 2000. He has also worked in Kuwait, the USA, and the United Kingdom. Between 2001 and 2008, Mr. Orabi served as the Ambassador of Egypt to Germany from 2001 to 2008, and then became the Foreign Minister of Egypt in 2011 in Essam Sharaf’s government.
