The Hon. Jesmond Mugliett

Biography

Since graduating as an Architect and Civil Engineer in 1989, the professional life of the Hon. Jesmond Mugliett has comprised periods where he was practicing in his profession and periods where he was more concentrated on his political career. 

He became a Member of the Parliament of Malta in 1996, a Parliamentary Secretary (Junior Minister) in 1998 and a Minister in 2003. He has been responsible for a variety of portfolios and areas, including Vocational Educations, Youth Affairs, Sports, Science and Technology, Arts, Heritage, Urban Development, Land Transport.  Since 2008 he has been following other roles in Parliament such as chairing the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Planning and a member of the National Audit Committee.

In 2009 he started reading for an MSc in International Construction Management at the University of Bath UK, which course he successfully completed in June 2012.  Since 2010 he has reestablished his Architects’ practice besides carrying out project management and other consultancy work, mostly in procurement, and financial appraisal.

He lectures part time at a number of tertiary institutions, such as The University of Malta, The European Institute of Education, The London Academy of Diplomacy, where he lectures in strategy, international business dynamics, development finance and financial appraisal of capital projects.
