“This is Our Planet”

The ICD Anthem Concert hosted by Bill Summers

(ICD House; Concert, Performance, & Song Recording; December 18th, 2013)

On the occasion of the Annual Conference on Cultural Diplomacy 2013, the ICD will welcome a selection of world-renowned international artists to a special concert and performance evening titled: 'This is Our Planet.' The event is held in honor and in solidarity with the Typhoon Haiyan Victims and is organized in collaboration with UNICEF and the Filipino community in Berlin. For this special event, the ICD is proud to gather prominent artists and the international community together for a night of music and cultural exchange.

The event will include numerous collaborative performances featuring musicians and dancers and will be accompanied by talks and oral accounts introducing the immense power of music as a vehicle of Cultural Diplomacy. During the event, all artists and guests will be invited to sing and be recorded in the ICD Anthem Song carrying the name "This is Our Planet" to promote global peace, unity and solidarity.

The song also seeks to pay tribute to all victims of natural disasters and to remind the global community of the urgency to make rapid and substantial progress in the quest to halt climate change. By collaborating with international artists, including Bill Summers, Marcia Barrett, and Lori Glory, the ICD aims to draw attention to the most salient contemporary issue of global warming.

The concept of 'This is Our Planet' originated from within the ICD, initiated by ICD interns in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. The havoc wrecked by this natural catastrophe proved yet again the need for humanity to respect and take care of our planet.
