Kennedy and his speech in Berlin
US president John F Kennedy makes the most famous state visit to Berlin. He gives his famous speech “Ich bin ein Berliner” to more than one hundred thousand people. He declares the divided city a symbol of the freedom in the Western world as “All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin”.
