EU-Latin America Forum on Cultural Diplomacy 2024

“Strengthening International Cooperation between the EU and Latin America"

(Berlin; July 18th - 20th, 2024)

Overview

The EU-Latin American relations have developed and improved over the last decades and have become a paramount factor for both the success of the EU and the Latin American regions themselves, both independently and collectively. The bounty of diverse cultures spread across both Latin America and the EU, includes a vast diversity of languages and cultural traditions, while the openness of both regions to engage in intercultural activities and exchanges has been represented in significant ways in the development of their relations and cooperation. Further development of these relations and cooperation, requires moreover greater and intensive dialogue between these diverse cultures in order to maintain the positive momentum.

We have therefore initiated the "EU-Latin America Forum on Cultural Diplomacy" in order to explore and present innovative applications and methods of cultural diplomacy that can be used to develop and strengthen these relations even greater. Due to the complexity of the multi-layered relations between these two regions, cultural diplomacy is of great significance in order to lay the foundations for more intensive cooperation.

The forum will include a variety of different events including the fields of international relations and economics, peace building, human rights, folklore, arts and culture. The conference curriculum will include a diverse range of topics for discussion and also focus on specific topics within the field of EU-Latin American Cultural Diplomacy in order to provide a wide and detailed analysis and varying perspectives. Through discussion, lectures and analysis, the forum will highlight the growing need to develop a sustainable EU- Latin American Cultural Diplomacy based activities.
