Biography

Petar Stoyanov is a Bulgarian jurist who was President of the Republic of Bulgaria from 1997 to 2002. His Euro-Atlantic policy marked his entire mandate. Petar Stoyanov was an active proponent for Bulgaria’s accession to the EU and NATO which he declared as the country’s civilisational choice. During his term of office  Bulgaria submitted its application for membership of NATO.
