The Center for Global Health Studies (CGHS)

About

The Center for Global Health Studies (CGHS) aims to raise awareness on global health issues including potential threats to Global Health, to draw attention to related activities and initiatives as well as to facilitate a global dialogue on ways to improve the Global Health infrastructure and response mechanisms. The CGHS calls for global governance responsibility and promotes joint cooperation from institutions and civil society.

According to Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services.” From its very conception, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has emphasized that a functioning health and social service infrastructure is fundamental for achieving an adequate standard of living and well-being of the individual.

However the majority of citizens throughout the world still do not have access to adequate medical care and health services. The lack of sufficient facilities and health programs only serves to exacerbate an already tenuous situation worldwide, something which has been showcased by the outbreaks of the Ebola and Covid19 and the inherent danger of it turning into an ongoing global pandemic/endemic.
