Overview
The Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the European Union – Strengthening Democracy, Modern Economic Development, and Women’s Leadership within the EU (Potsdam; October 12–15, 2026) will convene policymakers, diplomats, representatives of European institutions, academics, business leaders and civil society representatives to examine key priorities shaping the future of the European Union. At a time of geopolitical uncertainty and internal transformation, the Forum will explore how democratic resilience, modern economic development and women’s leadership can contribute to a stronger, more competitive and cohesive Europe. Particular attention will be given to cooperation between EU institutions, national governments, the private sector, academia and civil society.
Held in Potsdam, the four-day programme will combine high-level discussions, thematic panels and strategic roundtables focused on practical initiatives and policy innovation. Participants will assess current developments, share experiences and best practices from across Europe and identify concrete pathways to strengthen democracy, advance modern economic development and promote women’s leadership. The Forum aims to contribute to a more resilient, dynamic and inclusive European Union while reinforcing dialogue, cooperation and sustainable partnerships across Europe.

The ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy encourages academic research and analysis of issues related to the goals of the Forum, and would therefore like to welcome participants to submit a paper they would like to be considered for delivery at the Forum. Following the conference, the papers will be included in the proposal document that will be issued and sent
