Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the European Union

Advancing Cultural Diplomacy within the European Union

(Berlin; June 17-19th, 2026)

Overview

The Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the European Union – Advancing Cultural Diplomacy within the European Union (Berlin; June 17–19 2026) will convene policymakers, diplomats, representatives of European institutions, academics and cultural practitioners to examine the evolving role of cultural diplomacy within the European project. At a time of geopolitical uncertainty and internal transformation, the Forum will explore how culture can strengthen cohesion among Member States, reinforce democratic values and enhance the European Union’s engagement with neighbouring regions and global partners. Particular attention will be given to cooperation between EU institutions, national governments, civil society and the private sector.

Held in Berlin, the three-day programme will combine high-level discussions, thematic panels and strategic roundtables focused on practical initiatives and policy innovation. Participants will assess current frameworks, share best practices from across Europe and identify concrete pathways to advance cultural diplomacy as a strategic instrument of European external relations. The Forum aims to contribute to a more coordinated, visible and impactful European cultural presence internationally while reinforcing dialogue, mutual understanding and sustainable partnerships within and beyond the European Union.
