Conference Agenda

The goal of the ICD Annual Academic Conference on Cultural Diplomacy is to provide an annual review on the progress, impact, development and future of the field of Cultural Diplomacy. With such increasing prominence in the international system, discussion on Cultural Diplomacy in such an arena is vital and the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy hopes to facilitate new tools to promote and strengthen international relationships, empower the younger generation, contribute to academic literature and create a forum for valuable discussions on the future of Cultural Diplomacy.

The 2012 Annual Conference will explore the contributions of Cultural Diplomacy, while using the arts and culture to promote successful peace building & reconciliation, human rights, multiculturalism and successful international relations. The Conference will be focused on four main themes whilst contributing each day of the conference to special field.  The first day will be dedicated to the field of Peace building & Reconciliation; the second day to Human Rights; the third day to Multiculturalism and the final day to Arts, Culture & applied Cultural Diplomacy.

The Conference will focus in particular on the following Issues:

Day 1: Cultural Diplomacy, Democracy Promotion, Peace building & Reconciliation
Day 2: Cultural Diplomacy & Human Rights 
Day 3: State Multiculturalism, Cultural Diplomacy and the Global Economy
Day 4: Arts, Culture & applied Cultural Diplomacy
