It is with great pleasure that we invite you the following evening of reflections on Romanian Identity on Thursday, June 30th at 19:30 in Berlin. As part of our conference series "Cultural Barriers of Expanding Business Abraod," ICD is co-organizing this project with the Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin and Claudia Ivascu (the curator of the photo exhibit "7 people 7 statements 7 x romania"). It will be a one-of-a-kind presentation of Romanian Identity and we strongly encourage you to come and be inspired.

Photo-Exhibition

Lecture by Kathrin Kissau (in German)

About the photo-exhibition

"Changing perspectives by altering the view point. Looking at Romania through the eyes of its people. Listening to their statements. Learning about their lives before and after 1989. Romania, known abroad as the “Land of Dracula” at the eastern edge of Europe, recalls images of cruel dictators and never ending corruption. We present it in a different way. Seven people -- all residents of Romania -- with different professions, lifestyles and experiences agreed to be portrayed for this exploratory work. They talk about their own past, present and especially about their perception of Romanian identity. Thus, they represent in seven distinct ways a Romania shortly before joining the European Union."

About the Lecture

The exhibition opening is followed by a lecture (in German) on Romanian identity summarizing a one year sociological study in this field: "Ceausescu, Dracula and Orphanages? An image study about Romania" by Kathrin Kissau. Please see the PDF documents for more information.
