Germany-Turkey Week 2009 is a component of the program Germany Meets Turkey: A Forum for Young Leaders (GMT). GMT brings together young leaders from Germany and Turkey to create a sustainable network of likeminded inviduals, who are interested in strengthening German-Turkish relations.


The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization focused on the theoretical and practical development of cultural diplomacy. Founded in 1999, the ICD conducts its activities from Berlin.

Cultural Diplomacy - The ICD understands cultural diplomacy as “the exchange of ideas, information, values, systems, beliefs, and other aspects of culture, with the intention of fostering mutual understanding” (Milton C. Cummings Jr.)

The ICD Philosophy - The ICD believes that cultural diplomacy, the deliberate facilitation of constructive cultural exchange, helps to create sustainable intercultural relations based on dialogue, understanding, and trust. Such relations are mutually beneficial to cultural groups and help to reduce the likelihood of conflict at all levels.


Established in 1964, the Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH is one of the major German foundations associated with a private company. It represents the philanthropic and social endeavors of Robert Bosch (1861-1942) and fulfills his legacy in a contemporary manner. Istanbul Policy Center (IPC), physically located at Sabancı University, founded with a view to improving the quality and effectiveness of public policymaking in Turkey and the region. The Center establishes a network of cooperation with universities, think-tanks, and other similar research institutions both in Turkey and abroad in order to engage in broad participation of distinguished thinkers, scholars, experts, and practitioners to produce independent research as well as generate policy recommendations on issues of current relevance and significance. Through its university connection, the Center enhances the educational effects of its activities and contributes to the formation of tomorrow’s leaders by offering young researchers and graduate students an opportunity to participate in the research projects it sponsors. http://www.ipc.sabanciuniv.edu
