Publishing Your Research – Opportunities for Engaging in Cultural Diplomacy Research
The ICD recognizes the tremendous need for further research in the field of cultural diplomacy. The available research in the field is, at this point, extremely limited, and the ICD would like to support the promotion of additional scholarship in any way possible.

Specific opportunities are listed below:

Call For Research Fellows - The ICD is currently recruiting fellows to conduct research for a period of six months (July-December 2013) in the field of cultural diplomacy, based either in ICD headquarters in Berlin, Germany or in the specific region relevant to the fellow’s work. We are particularly interested in examples of best practices of cultural diplomacy, the need for cultural diplomacy and failures in the field on the local, state and global levels. Fellows will be awarded scholarships to support their work, and their articles and research will be published in the ICD’s “Cultural Diplomacy Outlook,” which is published annually and distributed to leading governmental and non-governmental institutions throughout the world.

Call for Papers - Searching for a Cultural Diplomacy: 2013 Edition - The ICD is currently reviewing papers from scholars interested in contributing to the revised edition of Searching for a Cultural Diplomacy. The first edition of this book was published in 2010 and provided a landmark contribution to the field, illuminating the most prominent examples of this “new” form of diplomacy throughout the world. The forthcoming edition will focus on recent innovation in the field and on tracking the successes and failures of previous efforts. Contributors will be compensated financially for their contributions. The ICD will fund implementation of the project via a 10,000 Euro grant.

Call for Collaboration with Independent Researchers - The ICD is very interested in supporting and participating in independent research designed by individuals or groups throughout the world. We welcome your proposals for collaborative research, even if your topic is not (yet) covered by the ICD’s current work. The ICD is able to financially support the strongest research proposals.

Call for Statistical Researchers - The ICD is seeking researchers to conduct statistical surveys and analysis, focused on effects of cultural activities as well as public-sector, private-sector and civil-society engagement with cultural diplomacy on the local, state and national levels. Researchers will be based in either their home countries on an independent-contractor basis or full-time at ICD Headquarters in Berlin.
