Biography

The Hon. Rui Duarte Barros was born in 1960 and graduated in economics. He is an economist and politician who is the former leader of the West African Economic and Monetary Union. He is also a former Minister for Economy and Finance of Guinea-Bissau and also served as Minister for Employment and the Civil Service. Mr Barros served as Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau during a transition period 2012 and 2014. In 2011 he was awarded the International Order of Academic Palms (OIPA) in recognition of his contribution to the development of education systems in Africa. Duarte Barros recently joined the ICD advisory board.
