NYAPHISI holds a Master degree from the John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health located in Baltimore (USA), Certificate in Primary Health Care - University of Hawaii in Honolulu USA) and a Certificate in Epidemiology and Disease Control from Nairobi University (Kenya).
Prior to his appointment Dr. Nyaphisi worked at the Ministry of Health from 1981 - 1991 where he rose to the rank of Senior Medical Officer and subsequently became the Director of Hospital Services. He was later seconded to the Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) and later became its deputy general manager.
Dr. Nyaphisi is a member of several national and international health organisations and has published quite a number of professional journals on health and development.
