The Barcelona Summit on Cross Continental Cooperation
"Enhancing Cross Continental Cooperation in Europe"
The recent ongoing disputes in Europe demonstrate the need for ongoing constructive dialogue in order to achieve and maintain lasting cross-regional cooperation both within and between European countries.
Currently in Europe, one can easily see an unstable situation which is highlighted in many forms such as the following examples: the Russian-EU relations, NATO budget and policy issues, the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the migration dispute within the EU, the Brexit process, the Catalan, Italian and Scottish independence aspirations, the new nationalist trends, and the ongoing high unemployment in the south of Europe. These kind of conflicts and transitions can be observed, not only in Europe, but in all continents and in many states around the globe where similar conflicts and disputes have arisen, taking the forms of both peaceful disputes as well as violent conflicts.
It is therefore absolutely necessary that ongoing dialogues on all political levels in both old and in new forms should be established and performed. The Barcelona Summit 2018 aims to analyze and debate these important developments in order to demonstrate best practices to enhance cross & continental cooperation in Europe.
