Summer Semester: Berlin, June 17th - August 16th, 2013

Introduction

The Study Abroad Program in Cultural Diplomacy is an innovative opportunity for both currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, as well as graduates, to experience the theoretical background as well as the practical application of international relations and cultural diplomacy.. Whether students want to pursue a career in the field, are thinking of studying in a related area field, or simply are interested in learning more about the revolutionary discipline of Cultural Diplomacy in the context of International Relations, the program offers an interdisciplinary selection of suitable courses, focused on Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations from multiple perspectives, providing students with a solid and broad foundation on the subject.

Students will follow the Master’s program curriculum at the world’s first and leading center for the study of Cultural Diplomacy - the Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies (CCDS). In addition, students are encouraged to attend ICD’s international conferences and events, which allow them to engage with the ICD’s strong professional network of different governmental organizations, NGOs, economic institutions, embassies, private businesses, and the media. Studying in a foreign country greatly increases the opportunities of employment in the public and private sectors, and through the ICD Study Abroad Program students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to remain competitive in an increasingly demanding international job market.

The program will provide students with an understanding of the role and the practices of strengthening intercultural relationships and the enhancement of socio-cultural cooperation. Students will become involved with the vibrant intercultural environment of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, where they will have the chance to engage with other cultures, explore new points of view, and reflect on how their own culture shapes their perceptions of the world.
